The battery storage project in Schwabmünchen has an output of 16 MW with a large storage capacity of 20 MWh. It was implemented in cooperation with ABO Wind. Battery cells from LG Chem are used. The battery storage system is used to provide system services (in particular primary control power) and to generate revenue from optimization on the spot market and is connected to the LEW Verteilnetz GmbH network. The battery storage system was completed at the end of 2022 and put into operation in 2023. It was sold to VERBUND and has been operated by them ever since.
